Abstract

Soap is a preparation used by the public as a clothes wash and skin cleanser. Various types of
soap are circulating in the market in various forms, one of which is hand-washing soap in liquid
form. Hand washing soap by utilizing natural ingredients as active ingredients that have good
activity as bacteriostatic (inhibits bacterial growth) and bactericidal (kills bacteria) have not been
widely developed. One of the natural ingredients that are proven to inhibit the growth of bacteria
is paederia foetida leaves. The method for making paederia foetida leaf extract hand-washing
soap is sample preparation using the maceration method, making the formula for paederia
foetida leaf extract hand-washing soap, and testing the quality of hand-washing soap. Based on
the research that has been carried out, it can be obtained that paederia foetida leaf extract can
be formulated in the form of liquid hand-washing soap. The variation in the volume of Sembukan
leaf extract after being formulated in the form of liquid hand-washing soap can affect the physical
properties of the liquid hand-washing soap both organoleptic such as color, shape and smell,
foam stability, and pH.of 9 mL was obtained in accordance with SNI (water content 2.4%, pH 10,
and foam stability 64.4%)
